SURFACE PREPARATION
The adhesive shall be applied to clean, dry, stable and level surface. The degree of unevenness should not exceed 2 mm over a length of 2 m. If the surface unevenness is greater than mentioned above, it should be levelled by means of a suitable levelling mass. The V62 adhesive should not be used for surface levelling. Before the tiles are placed on the surface, make sure that the surface is completely dry and properly cured. If the surface is dusty or should be strengthened, it should be primed beforehand. The primer improves the adhesion of tiles in almost every case. The effectiveness of this treatment depends on the type of surface – the weaker the surface the use of a primer is more purposeful, but it should be noted that the application of waterproofing or priming the surface extends drying and adhesive stabilization time.
SCOPE OF APPLICATION
The V62 adhesive is intended for fixing all types of construction tiles, regardless of the material they are made of. Its excellent viscosity allows for adhesion of both ordinary ceramic and polished tiles, natural stone – including marble and a variety of decorative elements made of cement, conglomerates, plastics and synthetic stone. The special properties of the product allow sticking the tiles on each stable, even and absorbent construction base. Unique features are clearly visible when applied the adhesive onto the deformable surfaces such as plasterboards and OSB. The V62 adhesive can be used to glue both small and large tiles. The adhesive is frost proof hence is also recommended for outdoor applications but only in places where the tiles’ surface is not exposed to water retention and where the wall is protected against capillary penetration of moisture.
APPLICATION
The adhesive manufacturer recommends using a notched trowel for application to obtain deeply grooved surface. The size of the teeth must be adapted to the size of the tiles and the surface absorbency. The recommended size of the teeth is 4-8 mm for wall coverings. It is definitely not recommended to wet the tiles nor the surface, or to dilute the adhesive with water. Tiles must be with a grout and pressed to the surface in a moderate way, so as to leave the ventilation ducts. Excessive downforce will create a “cake” of the adhesive under the tile, which shall greatly extend the drying time. The tiles laying method using the socalled “cakes” makes drying of tiles impossible. The joints shall be grouted only when the tiles are well stabilized, but not earlier than after 24 hours.
